Does Google Photos sync well with apple devices?

For the past 3 years all I've had is Android Phones. I always back my photos up into the Google + / Google photos app so I have them whenever I change phones. Right now I have something ridiculous like 12,000 photos backed up.

My question is this, if I were to pick up an Iphone 6 for example, could I backup all the photos I have taken with the Iphone 6 into the Google Photo app? I don't have anyone close by me that has an Iphone to ask

I've had G+ for years. All my sync seamlessly from my iPhone. Great secondary backup to iCloud.

I sync my Camera Roll on my iPhone 5S to Google's Picasa.
I use an app called PhotoSync. (Inexpensive)
