Hey everyone,

I saw a great deal on an iphone 2G on Pricefalls.com and wanted to know if you guys think it is legit. Pricefalls is an auction site where the price of an item constantly falls and people jump in when they think it is at a good price. Currently the item is at $120.64 and it has already fallen from $130.00. If you guys could check out the product and let me know what you think it would be much appreciated. It can be viewed at pricefalls on the homepage.

Thanks,

B

Sounds really really expensive for a iPhone 2G... that is a old product and can not do MMS, GPS, 3G... I would not waste my money on a iPhone 2G....

Even the Applecare warranty is expired by now...

If you are really considering buying this, I wouldn't
If you think this will get people to buy your 2G, I doubt it...

Wait till it drops to 40 or 50 bucks then maybe buy it....

A lot of developers will not use them anymore, either, as the phone itself is not advanced enough to utilize the full potential of the 3.0 SDK. Most developers usually code for the latest hardware, or one generation older at the most. Even the 3G is lacking some of the features of the 3GS that a lot of iPhone users want. It's like writing code for the original Playstation when the PS3 is where the developing money is at.

I could see some new developers utilizing the first gen phones as a way to learn how to code for the phone in general. Even I have thought of that.

Almost all of the apps in the app store will be OS 3.0 compliant as soon as possible. Also, there are a lot more apps being made specifically for the 3GS and iPod 2nd Gen (3rd Gen, soon).

Although, I have heard of people buying these to use as a cheap iPod Touch.

I think I want to move to the states. There are tons of 1st gen Iphones here in Canada selling on local personal sale sites for around $300 CDN. There are also people buying them so it's not like they just sit there. I think the main draw is they are not on contract, for some of the older people who don't know, some who don't care, some who don't want data plans so they wont be using data networks and want to minimize cost. I just found that funny :D

I just looked on ebay, I am shocked they are still selling for a lot of freaking money...

if you're in contract a new iphone can cost $600 easily.

you just can't compare subsidized price to used price since not everyone can get the subsidized price.

there's also entire countries you can't buy an iphone yet

What if 50 is too cheap?

Don't you think $50 might be too cheap what if someone grabs it first? Maybe I should set a bid at $55?

are a bit much to put it lightly. Some of them have an asking price of as much as $500.00 on eBay! I agree with what others have said here as far as $120 being too much for an iPhone 2G but, by comparison, it's more reasonable than these iPhone 3G prices.

iphone sold

The iphone sold for $117 on Pricefalls. I didn't grab it in time the last auction and he listed another, and I missed it again! Well someone got a good deal. I guess people may be catching on to Pricefalls...

Iphones selling on Pricefalls

Pricefalls has fulfilled some great iphone orders. I have been tracking ever since I put a bid in to purchase one on their site. Someone happened to get it before me for $117 and another one sold on pricefalls for $120. That being said, I saw one iphone on Pricefalls.com close for $30. So , I think there is definitely the opportunity to grab some great products for great prices on the site.
