Serenity's article on 'on-demand use of resources' for ATV apps is quite informative, but what else to consider in determining if I can get by with the 32G version ??

When it comes to phones, I've always bought the largest storage my budget allows... Better to have more and not need it than not enough...

Although I agree with kch50428, I also think that the 32 GB model will be more than sufficient for a majority of customers, especially if the device will be used primarily for streaming audio and video. I know for a fact that the 32 GB model will be more than sufficient for 'my' use because my current 3rd gen model is sufficient...;)

We are all just assuming at this point. It's a new device. How much will you be planning on storing? Do you want to question when want to download an app or game if you have enough storage? I know I don't. Personality for the extra $50 I'm going for the one with twice as much storage.

This will be my first Apple TV also, I'm really not understanding why you need storage if you are streaming everything.

If I'm being honest, I'll end up getting the 64GB version. It's cheaper to spend the extra couple of dollars than to buy the 32GB, realize it isn't enough, and then end up buying the 64GB months later.

Although TWO AppletTVs are better than one...

I guess I would go for the 64gb so I would have room to download games and apps

what do you mean hard on developers?
I think Daniel was saying that Apple has strict rules regarding what developers can store on the AppleTV to ensure that apps don't take up too much space on the device. This isn't a far stretch from the strict requirements that Apple enforces on app developers for its other devices.

Although I did a chat with Apple rep this morning and she thought 32GB would be plenty, my experience with other devices has always been that I was sorry I didn't get a larger one. (iPhone, TIVO, even Macs). So I'm tending towards the 64GB. My real concern is what will happen if Apple adds DVR functionality of some type, so you could have the Apple TV eventually download content to watch when it's convenient. That would be the main reason for my needing more storage. (i.e. I'm not a game player.)

Still, I don't really want to waste $50 either. Will give it another hour and then toss a coin.

200mb limit though additional data can be pulled that doesn't count.

I think the DVR thought is a fair one... And agree with the "buy more than you think you need" mentality as nobody can really say for sure. Though you could probably sell the 32GB at some point for a larger one if needed.
