Default alarm being created on iOS devices

I am having the problem as referenced here https://discussions.apple.com/message/19107077?searchText=icloud calendar default alarms#19107077

There the solution is to upgrade ti iOS 6 but for those of us who want to keep our 5.1.1 jail break i was hoping for another solution? Any ideas?
