Could/would Apple transition to RISC-V?

How difficult would it be for Apple to migrate their iOS operating systems, development toolchain, and A* series SOCs from ARMv8-a to RISC-V? What would be the biggest challenges?

Presuming the development of a suitable RISC-V chipset for Mac, how difficult would it be for Apple to migrate their macOS (10.15 or later) operating system and development toolchain from x86-64 to RISC-V?

Would the payback period, to realise the benefit of avoiding future licensing fees, be attractive or prohibitive?

Interesting concept, but what I am afraid of is after after this current crisis stuff has settled down, I don’t think your going to see any major developments for a while.

Companies will be focusing on how to rebuilt and recover what they have lost and unfortunately some may never recover, just my opinion.

I think Apple doesn't want to cannibalise their product lines. IOS for their devices and the rest for their laptops. I don't see a need why there must be a crossover.
