Copying files to iPad apps

I am trying to copy folders with files to an iPad app (Chunky comic reader).

When I drag and drop a folder (or individual files), Finder mostly freezes. Sometimes it works.

I cannot see a copy progress but some of the files make it to the iPad (4 GB of 30 GB after a few hours).

When I try to copy the rest, Finder freezes and there is no progress bar.

When I try to delete the folders copied into the app, nothing happens after selecting and clicking on delete.

How is this meant to work?

If the files are so large, it may take some time to transfer. The "freezing" may be the files transferring. What happens if you just leave it for an hour?

I don't know, since there is no feedback at all. The method I now use is leaving it copying over night and hope that it opied everything. The files are not particularly large, they are just many. And without any feedback whatsoever, it's difficult to know the status.

I wish Apple were more user-friendly. They have some work to do to catch up.
