Contacts on home screen!

After updating to iOS 8.0.2 I've noticed when you press the home button twice that at the top of the screen you have a list of contacts you have text/called. Is there a way to delete this from the home page?

Welcome to iMore. I'm not sure you can remove the contacts, but if somebody knows plese advise....ENJOY you stay here at iMore

Switch off show in app switcher

It's a quick access to your favorite contacts. I'm curious why you would want to remove the feature. It seems useful to me.
