Contact list does not show on right hand when I launch.

When I launch face time contact list does not show on the right side. I only get the list of contacts who last called.

When I open FaceTime on my phone, recents will appear... or, when I tap the "+" in the upper right of the window, my Contacts list appears.

Can you not type in the name of the person you want to FaceTine with in the search field?
