Characteristics of iMessaging as opposed to texting

I

iMore Question

I have an iPhone 5. Yesterday my son called me using Facetime. Ever since then, any texts arriving from iPhone arrive on my iPad (using iMessaging) and not my iPhone. Any texts arriving from Android users, arrive on my iPhone. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

Not sure why it happens but once in the past I did run across an issue similar to yours where I would receive text on my iPad instead of my phone (random texts not specifically from android users). The way I fixed it was turning off/ signing out of iMessage across all my devices (mac, iPad, iPhone) and then resigning in after a couple of minutes. Hope this helps and fixes your issue.

On your iPhone go to Settings > iMessage > Send & Receive and enable the phone number on top.

This allows you to be reached under your phone number for iMessages.

It seems to me like the number was enabled on the iPad but not on the iPhone.
