Cannot Backup iPhone 5S on iTunes 11

Hi,

I have been trying to back up my iPhone 5S with the latest version of iTunes. But the option to manually back up and restore is greyed out. I have an iCloud back up but I want to have a back up on my laptop. No matter what I do I cannot get it back up on iTunes. Any suggestions, I have never come across this before.

This happened to my son not too long ago. My son found a fix on Mac Rumors. Hopefully, following the steps listed below will help you, as it did my son. Good Luck!!

Select Finder
Hold the option button while selecting the Go menu on the top bar.
Holding option brings up the Library in the drop down menu. Select it.(Library)
Open the preferences folder in this Library folder
Find com.apple.iTunes.plist
(Make sure you quit iTunes)
Now move this file to the trash
Empty out your trash
Start iTunes again
