The HomePod is built with your security and privacy in mind. The details from Apple:

"With HomePod, only after 'Hey Siri' is recognized locally on the device will any information be sent to Apple servers, encrypted and sent using an anonymous Siri identifier."

Question is - will you/do you trust it? And will you use it??

It will not be any different than having Hey Siri enabled on iPhones and iPads. And there are even multiple of those lying around in a house.
The HomePod should not be treated any differently in my opinion.
