can you plug both apple tv and amazon fire tv into one tv and switch between the two?

I have an LG tv with several hdmi ports. I connected both apple tv and amazon fire tv to ports but the amazon doesn't stream without long pauses and switching back and forth seems to knock out one or the other requiring rebooting, and trouble staying connected to wifi.

as long as you have the available ports it shouldn't be an issue- if you are trying to run both it could be overloading your wifi
