• iPhone 15 : The iPhone 15 makes up for a disappointing iPhone 14. Here's all the details.
    • iPhone 15 Pro: Going beyond the Dynamic Island, Apple's pro smartphone goes big on gaming.
    • iPhone 15 Pro Max: That periscope camera makes its debut on Apple's most-premium handset.
    • Apple Watch Series 9: With a new chip teased, it proves just an iterative year for Apple's long-standing wearable.
    • Apple Watch Ultra 2: Another modest update for Apple's top-tier rugged wearable sequel.
    • iOS 17: Our favorite new iPhone software improvements, all in one place.
    • watchOS 10: A significant upgrade for Apple's Watch software makes even older Apple Watches feel new again.

Can someone explain to me?

I don't need notification lights. If I want to see if I have a notification I pick up the phone and not being able to edit a phone number in the dialer is no big deal.
Now if someone is giving me their number I add it in the contacts app where you can edit the number not in the dialer.

Everyone has those features that they need and it doesn't mean that one brand is behind the other. Anyone not living under a rock can see that about BlackBerry or Windows Phone. So when you say that a phone brand "should have an LED indicator" it is purely subjective. I had one on my BlackBerry but it was red all the time so what good is it? When I have my phone alert me with a sound that tells me I have a text message or an email, why do I need an LED? If you need one, that's great but if you are going to go on this, "BlackBerry/Some Android phones" are better than iPhones because of an LED...well, we can pull out the measuring sticks if you want and start comparing other features and see which Platform has a shorter list.

As for typing out phone numbers, personally, I keep my eyes on the phone number field. If I see that I just entered in the wrong number in the sequence then I go and delete that number, I don't keep going on like nothing is wrong. A "2" in no way looks like a "5" for example so I'm not sure how you can mix it up. Then again, that is just me and dialing a phone number has not inconvenienced me at all.

The OP's original post comes off as belittling and challenging but I'll assume he doesn't mean it as such.

Please stop defending the indefensible, that are basic things that any phone has to have.

You and the other dozen people on the planet who actually care about notification lights should all go back to using Blackberrys.

Going back and selecting the 2nd number in a phone number to delete it would take more time than just back spacing and re-inputting the number...don't agree? Learn how to dial a phone better.

Stop trying to make something completely irrelevant relevant.

If you do not like Edit number before calling and Led Notification not USE! But these features had to be optional.

Apple should introduce:

Notification light
Edit number before calling
Stereo Speakers
Water resistant.

Welcome to the club. Get in line. And while you’re waiting for these "required" features, search the forums to see how many other similar threads have died a slow, lonely death around here.

PSA: If you need these features, look elsewhere. You won’t find them on an Apple device.

So the very large consumer base should sacrifice the design profile we've come to expect from Apple to accommodate the niche market that wants a notification light? lol...

Thankfully Apple still agrees with those who don't see the need for such a feature.

The number editing thing isn't even worth debating you about...again, why would someone want to use a more time consuming process when redialing the right number would be quicker?

You obviously want a Samsung or an M8, even though neither of those phones offer you everything you want implemented, so you will still have to make some sacrifices. I heard the new Galaxy Alpha bends if you bend it with an immense amount of force, though, so be careful.

When I came from the BlackBerry to the iPhone (way back - 3GS), I admit that I missed the notification light. Then I used the phone for a day and didn't miss it any longer. If you consider the LED to be a necessary component, then you are better off going with a phone that has it. It's kind of a simple concept; get the phone that works best for you. If Apple does implement an LED notification light in a future model, it's not like the current phone is suddenly going to have it.

But that's the only thing I miss that was on my BB.
I just can't believe how long it took for me to move to all-everything Apple.
Good Luck

Me too. What I liked about my 9780 was the ability to program different LED colors for different people and not have the LED come on at all for others.

If you set your notification to "alerts", it will light up on your screen even if it is asleep. Of the 3, choose "Alerts".

Edit Numbers:
I'm using the dialer if someone is actually dictating a number to me or I'm reading it from something. It's no big deal to input again if I make a error. How difficult is it to type in 10 numbers a second time.

Notification Light:
I leave my phone on a table leave the room, come back pickup the phone there's a text. Why do you need a flashing light to tell you something happened? Notification lights in BB were notorious batt killers.
Stereo Speakers:
In anything as small as a phone there is no real advantage sonically to stereo speakers. There is no space between the speakers to achieve a phantom center. The best solution is a stereo headphone output.

Water Resistant:
iPhones have no interest in swimming.

I tried to make a HTC EVO a iPhone a few years ago. The best solution was getting a iPhone. The best solution right now for the above features is to get a Android or Samsung phone.

I swear if Apple ever makes a stupid LED notification light in which the Apple logo on the back of the phone lights up, I'm going to place the blame squarely on those people who kept asking for a damn notification light.

Can't you just stick the phone on vibrate? That surely works the same as a little blinky light? It will still notify you to something going on...

If you go to settings-general-accessibility- hearing you can toggle on led flash for alerts. This will blink the camera flash for all alerts.

Is Regrettable a phone with such a mature system, does not have options to edit a number in the dialer and not have LED notification light.
You're kiddin', right? Let's start with the dialer. Who's fault is it for the misdials - yours or the iPhone's? Furthermore, pick up any traditional home or office phone and misdial a number. Afterwards, tell me if you're able to easily correct the mistake without having to backspace or redial. Now in regard to the "notification light", the iPhone HAS NEVER had such a light - at least not in the manner of a Blackberry device. Come to think of it, I don't recall my Android devices having it either.

Please stop defending the indefensible, that are basic things that any phone has to have.
Do you not see that complaining about issues that existed prior to buying the device is a true attempt to defend the indefensible?
