Can make a contact from a SMS message ?

Can't figure this out. You would think it would be easy...

Scroll up to top and there is a add contact button next to call and FaceTime.

Scroll all the way to the top of the conversation and you should see links for Call, FaceTime, and Contact. It may be a little different for a contact you don't have yet, but the contact button should give you the option of adding a new contact or adding it to an existing contact.

If the sender has an iOS device, have that person text you his or her contact information from within the Contacts app. If you're the sender and your information is listed in the Contacts app, simply select it and then select "share contact" and then select to share via "message".
