Can ios 5.1.1 be jailbreak with absinthe?

hello guys...
i'm a new iphone 4s user...
just bought it recently (about 5 days)...
my IOS still 5.1.1, and i wanna jailbreak it...
but someone told me that IOS 5 was being closed by apple, so there's no way you could go back to IOS 5. have to go to IOS 6 if you failed the jailbreak...
so i wanna know, is someone ever tried to jailbreak IOS 5.1.1 using absinthe recently? did it work?
please help me, i've been confused by this in days...
