Can I transfer pokecoins to another player?

I no longer want to play pokemon but, I still have 6,000 pokecoins so I don't want them to go to waste. Can I transfer them to someone else?

My son use to ask me to transfer coins to him all the time but it is not possible, they are suppose to make it so you can trade Pok?mon but that's it.
