Can I swim laps in a pool with my watch?

I'm with the folks that designed the Watch and their recommendations.

If Apple says in User Guide don't do it I'm not doing it.
It's says don't submerged it, swim with it or shower with. The water resistance is not a permanent condition.
By doing these things a user could shorten the life of the water resistance.
As opposed to being caught in the rain a few times.

Well, I'll shower with it (and have been doing so daily for 2-1/2 months now), I just won't swim with it. That's where I (and Tim Cook) draw the line. So, I'm in good company.

I wonder if Tim Cook got Apple Care Plus.

Can't tell anyone to do the same (swimming with the watch), but swimming is my main activity and not logging this exercise would make the whole fitness usage of the watch completely useless to me, between having an useless fitness tracker and damaging a replaceable useful watch I decided to risk it. So far so good, and I'm just using it under its water resistance certification, less than a meter deep for 30 minutes... If it gets damaged I just have it repaired anyways, it's only a watch I can perfectly live without it.

I would be too scared to introduce it to any water. Even rain drops to it would panic me to go and get shelter.

These kind of toys are too expensive to risk :)

Doing a quick google search you won't find many articles on  watch water damage so its resistance is confirmed but I suspect that a year from now the number of complaints will increase

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I had to walk about 150 Ft to my car in the pouring rain with my watch on. It got wet but not submerged.
