Backup iPhone to external hard drive

Hi, I followed your instructions on backing up my iPhone to an external drive and ran into some snags. I carefully reviewed the process but got the same errors.

I came up with the same screen you mentioned that the backup was corrupt, but cannot figure out why.

I found a way to fix the alias, however, when I did I got the message that the operation could not be completed.. error code -36.

I have an iPhone 6 which I have bought in Thailand and I am using a MacBook Air... Any insight would be appreciated.
