camera issues after ios10 update?

When I swipe left to access the camera without unlocking the phone I find that it is locked up. It will show a blurry camera image and I have to click the home button and try again. It doesn't always happen but curious what is the issue here?

I attribute that to iOS 10 because I experienced it on my iPhone 6S Plus on occasion even with 10.1 beta. I use the camera almost daily while at work. Thus far, it hasn't happened with my iPhone 7.
