Caller ID when traveling internationally

I

iMore Question

Hi, when I travel internationally with my iPhone 7+ from Rogers (Canada), the Caller ID gets messed up. When I get a call from back home, it gets identified as a local number from the international city.

For example, 204-987-1234 is a Canada number but gets displayed as (20) 4987 1234 with the city I'm in displayed underneath (e.g. Paris, London, Dublin).

The main problem it is recognized as the same number as my contact that is saved with 204-987-1234 so I don't see their name.

Hi,

That setting is already turned on. I haven't tried with it off...

What I do with contacts is save their numbers with the country prefix.

Like my number is 06 XX 45 XX 35 and I saved that as +31 6 XX 45 XX 35.

Try doing this too. Especially if you’re abroad a lot it helps with the issues you’re experiencing.

I do that as well, and have for years as I travel internationally quite a bit and have to call people in other countries. While not all contacts are like that, most are. And specifically the ones this current trip that finally prompted me to look for a solution are saved like:

+1 (204) 987-1234

but gets displayed as

(20) 4987 1234
