Buying iPhone 4 today and Jailbreak

My wife is literally standing in line while I type buying new iPhone 4s. Is there a way to activate without having to go to 4.1.2? I want to Jailbreak for MyWi for my iPad. Any thoughts?

it's 4.0.2....

where is she buying? at&t store definitely usually activate in store... apple store, they might not...

but even if it gets activated today, they might not have downloaded the 4.0.2 update - it's rather large (579mb)... but who knows... they may have...

You are right on both counts! It came with 4.0.1. I restored from my 3Gs back up and all is good! Came from Apples store. I think they do the bare min to get you going and want you to restore/back up/ register at home thru iTunes. Thanks!
