Thinking of buying a top tier first gen MacBook (Core M 1.3). Advice from actual owners on current performance etc. would be very appreciated!

I purchased a refurbished 1.1Ghz MacBook a few weeks ago.I am impressed with the size and weight, but since performance wasn't a requirement (else I would have got a MBP), I can only say that it is about twice as fast as my old 2010 MacBook, which was fast enough for me.

I thought that the single USB-c port would be a problem. So far that has not been an issue, although I do use a USB-c to USB 2 cable to backup to my old external hard drive.

Good luck with what ever you decide to get.

1.3 Core M is enough for browsing, watching vedios etc.Other than that you need a Mac Book with more performance.

It would help to know what programs you use. I've used both generations and have gen 2 M5 that I use more than I ever expected. That includes booting a Windows 10 VM.

I find all of them more useful than a tablet and very often I wonder if the critics of either generation actually own or use them much.
