Buying a iPad

I never owned an iPad before. I’m looking to get one for my young son. I don’t have a lot to spend. I don’t know if I should just buy a new basic 7th generation one or if I should try finding a low priced used iPad.
I did find a used iPad Pro 10.5 64gb mqdt2LL/A that comes with a keyboard. It’s priced around the same price as a basic 7th generation iPad. Is the older pro model obsolete or going to soon be obsolete? Should I just buy a new 7th generation iPad because it will be new? Does the basic 7th generation iPad connect to keyboards?
I really don’t know much about all the iPads so any help would be much appreciated.

The older Pro model is not obsolete - there are a lot of great deals on use and new devices out there. I always check over on the Swappa site for stuff and have had good luck.

I would choose the new unused iPad. It will come with at least a year's warranty.
