Boyfriends texts are coming from his email

I got my boyfriend to update his phone to the new IOS 9 last night and the only problem he seems to have is that his texts come through as if he's sending them from his email. To him it's all one chat in iMessage. To me it's two chats (both which he can receive the message in his one chat) one to his phone which is still regular text messages and one to his email which is iMessage. It's not a big problem but we are just trying to figure out why this isn't happening. His iMessage is turned on, he has turned iMessage off then back on and he has reset his phone.

He has his number and Apple ID setup in iMessage.


Choose which one he wants to use and uncheck the other.
