Husband and I have respectively an iPad air 1 and 2.
Both updated to whatever latest software update last week.
At first it was great, really fast and smooth.
But gradually things started changing and now we both have extremely poor battery life and both take for freaking ever to charge.

We both did resets. What now?

Apple's iPad batteries are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity for 1,000 full charge cycles. This sounds like a lot but both of your devices are pretty darn old and I can only assume that you're on borrowed time with your batteries. Apple offers battery replacement service for $99 plus shipping. It's obviously your decision whether it's worth the expense or not.
