Beta 5 today?

Typically GM comes on iPhone event day. Then public release about a week later right before new iPhone ships. That could always change but that's just past history.

If there was to be any change from previous years, I could see the next release being GM even before the
12th and then the actual public release on the 12th itself. I doubt it, of course.

Changes can occur between the GM and final release - in theory.

Usually, they are the same. I can only remember once it changing and that was with iOS 4.2. Official ended up releasing as 4.2.1 and not 4.2.

I said it was 50/50 on whether we would get a beta 5. I wasn't very convinced there would be another. Why? Last year it was 5 weeks from last beta to GM. If event day is 9/12 and GM releases that day, that makes it 5 weeks and 2 days days between from beta 4. I'm sure Apple is coding that GM now and not worrying about another beta.

i'm curious how the final product regarding battery performance turns out. doubt it will be any better than 5.1.1
