Best way to text

I came to the Iphone from the Driod X and on there you could have widgets of a contact and when you tap it, it would give you the option to call, text or email that person from the home screen. Is there anything like this on the Iphone? or do you have to go into contacts, find the person, then go to message? Just wondering if there is a quick way to get to the texting to someone. Thanks.

You can go to the search pane and type the name of the person and it will take u to the contact. Its a little bit quicker. If u already have a open text with that person you will see it in the search results as well.

You can add people as favorites and then access them through the phone icon. Once in the phone icon click the star (favorites) and when you you hit the arrow beside their name you have their contact page with the option to call, text, email, facetime, etc.
