battery stop charging

my iphone 5 start to get hot after it could not start up or even get back to charging, what will be the possible problem and or can i resolve this problem.

If the battery hasn't completely drained, press and hold both the power button and home button until you see the Apple logo, and then release both buttons. After the phone gets to the home screen, plug it in to charge.
