I intend to record meetings using my iPhone 3GS.

Which will consume less battery power, clock cycles to compress the audio, or more writes to storage to save an uncompressed stream?

To consume the least power do I want to use:

  1. The built-in Voice Memos app from Apple, which uses clock cycles to compress the incoming audio in MPEG-4 AAC at 64kbps, 44.1kHz.
  2. A 3rd-party app, like Griffin iTalk, which will save the uncompressed audio in AIFF format at 1411kbps, 44.1kHz.
