I have set my iPhone 5s on 5 minutes but on switching off and on it requires me to key in my pass code even under 5 minutes. What could be my problem and solution?

The 5 minute setting is for screen timeout and its different. everytime you switch it off, and turning it back on you need to enter your passcode or touch id. if you dont want to be prompt to the lock screen you can just turn on your device by tapping and holding your fingerprint registered finger( thumb is the best) on the home button.
