Auto backup to iCloud not working

My iPhone 6 on 8.0 backup is configured to automatically backup when plugged in to mains, wifi connected, and locked. I have set a passcode and fingerprint id which wasn't on my old iPhone 5. Any clues, or does anyone have the same issue?

I have noticed that if i do a manual one then that evening when i plug it in it doesnt do it automatically but will resume the following night
