Australian Applications

I am moving to Australia from the U.S. soon. When I purchase apps for my iphone in the U.S. it says they are only to be used in the U.S. I can understand certain maps programs might not work in Australia, but why would other apps not work there? Do Aussies purchase different apps than we do in the U.S.? Does your itunes account change?

I didn't notice any differences in the operation of the apps when I visited last year. All I did was insert a prepaid sim card and all worked fine (it's jailbroken).

Has anyone made this move and experienced problems? Any help is greatly appreciated!
