I spoze everyone else knows this by now, but since I'm clueless, it was a surprise to me.

Sucking on a Latte in Starbucks, I casually wandered in to the iTunes store while using the Free AT&T wifi. I was on my iPhone, not my computer.

First thing I noticed was that "Featured" button in lower Left Corner was replaced by a Now Playing button, featuring the current song being played in the store. In typical Starbucks fashion, it pretty much sucked, but thats just me.

Interesting, I thought, but that wasn't why I opened iTunes, so tapped the Search to find what I was looking for.

All I got was "Can not connect to iTunes store" message.

Several retries brought same result.

So I switched off WiFI, hopped on 3G and was successful in accessing the iTunes Store.

So the question is: Is it common knowledge that AT&T is short-circuiting the iTunes store in their Free WiFi? and Why would Apple agree to this kind of filtering?

And while I'm at it, is this "Now Playing" substitution for "Featured" button found at any other WiFi outlets?
