From the recent podcast it seems even the Tipb staffs are not yet eligible for subsidized upgrade. For those who bought iPhone 4 at launch with AT&T 2 year commitment, how many for you are eligible and are you paying for unlimited voice minutes?

I am eligible. No I dont have umlimited mins. If you have a family plan, the first line gets upgrade every 12 months if that first line exceeds $100 if you add up mins, data, texting, and ect.

So that is why I am always able to upgrade within a year!! Thanks for this! I thought it was a blackberry thing with AT&T. Why doesn't the other lines get a 1 year upgrade?

I am the primary line, my part of the bill is over $100, and I got the iPhone 4 2 weeks after it came out. I am not eligible until 11/30. My wife got her phone a week before me and she is eligible.

I am eligible. No unlimited voice here.

It's based on your sponsor account and bill amount. I am the main number on a 4-line family plan. Our bill is about $225/month for 4 phones, unlimited text, 3 unlimited data and one 2-gb data plan.

I've been upgrade-eligible since June 25, 2011.

I am not eligible til Feb, I am paying outright because my 4 was stolen Saturday and my friend lent me her upgrade til this came out for me to buy on my account.

I don't have unlimited phone minutes because I RARELY make calls.

I'm not unfortunately. I don't get it. Can someone explain. Will the iPhone 5 be released in the spring?

I am not eligible either, as AT&T loved to point out to me when I was trying ti check my bill right after the iPhone event - they had a pop up window that I could easily check upgrade status.

I'm not quite to a year on my contract, though. However, buying the next iPhone wasn't on my mind, just having a iPhone was!

I'm eligible have been since the 4 came out, I'm still rocking the old 3GS. I passed on the 4 'cause i wasn't ready to upgrade and really didn't like the 4 at the time. However, it's grown on me and the 4S is nice. I guess I'll be upgrading on the "S" schedule for here on. I'm grandfather into the unlimited data but not voice, not a big talker to i have like 2K rollover mins, maybe more. Just me w/ employer discounts so my bill is a steady $85 a month.

because not enough money is spent on those lines to warrant the subsidizing

Upgrade

Bought iPhone 4 a year after 3GS and was eligible as my bill is over $100 per month. Figured it would be the same here, but per ATT rep, not eligible until November 16 and looks like no concessions made even though bill is over what was that magical $100 threshold. Per rep, eligibility for next upgrade won't be 17 but 20 months. Supposedly these decisions were made by Apple and not by phone company, and ATT really has no leverage with Sprint and Verixon in mix. Oddly, ETF is 175, so could cancel, lost number and reup for cheaper than buying phone when it goes on sale tomorrow
