I’m deployed right now and am needing a solution for overseas. My X I have is financed through the iPhone upgrade program, and I’m unsure whether it’s unlocked or not. Anyone know about this?? Thanks!

Update: thanks to both of you that answered! As it turns out, iPhones bought on the IUP are factory unlocked.

Not sure if Apple has changed but normally all phones brought thru Apple directly comes unlocked. Just not sure if it changed with the whole payment plan.

Being a deployed military, certainly sounds to me like a good reason for a free unlock from your at home carrier. As JB said the one's sold directly by Apple are unlocked, BUT if you bought through your carrier, then it's probably locked. Wouldn't hurt to get in touch with them about an unlock. If it were up to me I'd do it for you immediately! (it's not up to me though! lol) Thank you for your service!
