Are 3rd party accessories okay to use or just Apple original?

I am brand new to Apple, just picked up my very first Apple device, an iPhone 6S Plus. Since none of my current chargers will work I was wondering if I should buy Apple only or is buying 3rd party on Amazon or somewhere else okay. If getting 3rd party what do I need to look for?

It is always recommended that you buy an Apple approved accessory, however, many 3rd-party equivalents work fine.

I use MFi certified lightning cables. But I stick with Apple adapters/Chargers. The certified cables work fine. I currently use a Monoprice 10' certified cable.

I have done the opposite. I use Apple cables but my wall adapter is a multi-USB by Digipower I think. I've used it to charge multiple USB devices without issue including my Apple Watch, iPad Mini, and iPhone.

Plus one- I always use apple cables but have numerous receptacles to plug into. Mostly at home I use USB outlets.
