Ok so we all have that one "good" friend who knows our lock screen password and he ends up reading all of our messages , is their anyway to password protect apps such as Kik or watsapp other than jail breaking?

NO as this has been asked and answered a number of times. Change your password and don't give it out - Switch to a 6 digit # if you have not yet. This is the easiest way to take care of your problem.

Exactly this^^^......SIMPLE SOLUTION

You could keep the passcode you have and just add 2 numbers to give it 6. That one person would never guess it.
