apps not downloading on i pod

Hi got an i pod 32gig 4th gen for xmass. Up todate with downloads on Itunes & ipod but can only download apps & i tunes on computer and sync them over. Can get internet connection oni pod for app store but i am getting an error code 1004, on my i pod. can any one help
