Applecare with Verizon iPhone 6s Yearly Upgrade?

That doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard. Pretty cool if that's a new policy. Everywhere I've seen said the coverage is not transferable between two devices. If you sell a phone that has the coverage it stays with that device. The only exception is if the devices are exchanged within 30 days. Then it's transferable from the previous to the new one. But outside of that it isn't.

But if they did it for you then that implies a change in policy.

To me it's a matter of what's most important to you. Apple care has a lower deductible than the insurance Verizon provides but doesn't cover loss or theft. What I personally do is use the built in one year warranty then buy the $7 a month insurance from Verizon as I think loss of theft is a more likely occurance for me. If I decide to keep the phone beyond a year, I can take it into any Verizon store and add the extended warranty after they check it for function. Why pay for a year of warranty you don't need yet.

I always get apple care. For me I like dealing with Apple better than VZW. And I always pass my phones down to my children so they have a year of protection when I'm done. To each their own.

But if you accidentally destroy your iPhone you can take it in and pay the deductible and receive a new phone. I accidentally ran over my plus a few months ago and paid just over $80 to replace it, with AppleCare+. I mean it was destroyed (even though it still turned on).
