I'm just wondering what the real difference is between the two. There are some really good deals on Gen 1 models at Best Buy and some other places. I don't think I need the GPS and waterproofing of the Series 2, so I'm looking to go cheaper. But I wasn't sure if the Series 1 was worth the extra money over the Gen 1.

Thanks!

the only difference between Series 1 and Gen 1 aka Series 0 is that the Series 1 has the new Dual-Core Processor. Hope this helps.

The iMore Blog has an excellent article outlining the difference between the original Watch and the new Series 1 & Series 2 versions. You can view it via the following link

Having said that, I am one of the people who own the original Watch Sport. Since getting it over a year and a half ago, I've used it EVERY day. If something were to happen to it, I wouldn't hesitate the replace it with a series 1 model. Like you, the GPS on the Series 2 model is of little use to me. I've had no misperceptions of the overall usefulness of my Watch. With that in mind, go ahead and take full advantage of the deals you're presented with in regard to the original Watch.

I have three AWs and one AWS2. Though I haven't used it I sort of like having the GPS, but I doubt I'd buy another S2. Ok, the Nike+ is calling my name but only because I like the strap and the Nike-only watch faces.

If Apple came out with some new Watches and kept the current platforms, I'd very likely get S1s and not S2s.

Apple Watch Gen 1 users, how's your battery life running on the latest WatchOS 3?
I feel like my Gen 1 has less juice than running on WatchOS 2.X.

I haven't observed any difference in battery life on my Gen 1 since installing OS3. After approximately 16 hours use including say 60 minutes of exercise, I typically end the day around 50% battery left. By the way, with the same usage, my AW2 has closer to 75% left.

I think we have similar usage but my Gen 1 usually left with 20% battery...
