Since I am really not knowledgeable about AR/VR headsets, $3000 for a headset seems really steep. Am I wrong?
IMHO extremely steep and suggestive it is meant for highly specific use case users. Wall Street expects Apple’s AR/VR to hyper increase this market as well as see Apple make a big new ecosystem within the larger Apple ecosystem. But if the starting price to get into the AR/VR ecosystem begins with an initial 3000, I think Apple has laid an egg (pardon the VR pun) and Wall Street is going to be disappointed.
FWIW, I see AR and VR as a potentially huge market. A brand new form of device navigation, of creativity/design, of reading, of training/education, of relaxation, health care application, communication interaction, many more. What I think it is now is simply strapping two TVs close to your eyes that provides some depth of field to play a reality game or watch a movie. Imho Apple needs to come out with simple use cases for the aforementioned list, not simply two TVs next to the eyes for movies and games. (Hopefully not some dubious metaverse to live virtually in).
