Apple Store No Longer Allowed to Install Screen Protectors?

So I was in a local Apple Store a few weeks ago talking to a rep about screen protectors for the 5s. They were all new brands. I asked the specialist if they could put the new screen protector on my iPhone after I got it, as they always have done. He said no because they had some liability issues sent from corporate. I was a bit annoyed by this.

At places like Best Buy and the Verizon store, they can install screen protectors on the phone or device. However I don't like Best Buy because I've had some bad experiences there with the staff not knowing anything about the products. The VZW store is better.

I wouldn't mind buying my next iPhone at the Apple Store and then heading over to the Verizon Store right after to buy a screen protector for them to install. It still is a bit of a pain though to do this.

I hope that Apple will change this policy when the next iPhones come out. What do you all think about this?

Sent from my Space Grey iPhone 5s 64 GB or Space Grey iPad Air 128 GB WiFi + Cellular. Both devices using VZW 4G LTE and running iOS 7.1 .

Well they don't HAVE to put it you know. I always go a Chinese shop and pay $5 for a screen protector and get it installed.

Back in 2011 (May be farther) they decided to stop selling iPhone screen protectors in-store to advertise how strong their screens are and they stopped putting them on customers phones because if it was placed incorrectly the customer would request for it be removed and another installed (for free)- as you might know, Apple isn't a fan of wasting money.

As nitpicky as some customers are, I'm not surprised. If I were Apple, I wouldn't install them either.

Oh no...that would be bad. I am horrible at applying screen protectors, I always get bubbles. I've always had someone apply them when I buy them.

Oh well.....you live you learn and you adapt...

I have OCD. I install my own screen protectors. Though lately I've been using tempered glass.

I can kind of see where the Apple Store is coming from. Perhaps it's because they are having people demand free replacements for bubbles. Possibly coming back the next day or days later claiming it came off and wanting another free.

Could be many things.

I can install my own on my iPod touch, but for my iPad, yesterday, I went to best buy mobile in the same shopping mall. They did it in minutes and it's flawless.

There are 2 kinds of screen protectors - Wet and Dry. The sry is harder to get on because once it touches the first time and you don't like it, You have to start over. The Zagg wet protectors that the the stores like the Zagg kiosks outside all Apple stores spray your phone screen and screen protector with an alcohol based solution and put it on, Squeegee it out normally they are all perfect as is my 5S and iPad. All Best Buys put them on too when you buy them and they are good at it.

Not surprising because I am sure there was a few people who complained about it not being on right and requested another being put on. Those are the same people who would complain when apple and others will no longer put screen protectors on and they wonder why. If i buy screen protectors I usually go to verizon because they do it for free and have had no issues with them doing it in the past.

I too always do mine and for friends and family. I use a wet microfibre cloth to wipe the screen ( phone turned off completely) and keep it moist so as to get best results. The wetness also helps in moving the protector once placed. Then use a credit card to squeeze out water and a hair dryer to dry out the oozing water. The olden times screen protectors needed this water therapy, which I still follow :)
Have yet to try out glass protectors. Are they simpler to install?

Just wondering... This might seem like a stupid question but when you have the wet screen protector and they spray the alcohol based water on your iphone, can't that cause water damage or set off the water detectors? Haha
