Not quite as foolish as many of you think. Putting aside the question of security, os code can and to some various extent must be held back to accommodate its weakest links.
Ask yourself why can’t Android OEMs simply support 5 years of OS? Wayyyy too many weakest links out there. It’s probably not feasible but it certainly would need holding back the newest models SW in order to find some way to accommodate the weakest links.
