Apple mouse not working after batteries blew up

I haven't used my apple mouse for quite some time and because of that the battey inside blew up... (with some white stuff) I cleaned it up the best I can but it still doesn't work. Has anyone had situation similiar to mine?

I hope you washed your hands thoroughly after the fact.
There is a good chance you’ll have to replace the mouse with a new one.
