This isn't an iOS 9 question since this has been around for a few months, but how does Apple Maps know if there's a traffic accident causing the delay?
After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.
does the servers Apple use Google maps use as well
Thanks, but how do 3rd party sources know? I always understood that Waze relied on its users to report them. Does this come from police reports? That seems like it would be too slow for a real-time solution.
Is this a question? No, Apple does not use Google maps
really, how does Google get information vs Apple regarding maps
In addition to TomTom, Apple Maps also uses Waze data, as well as traffic data collected/reported by ClearChannel/iHeart Media stations.Apple uses TomTom for its traffic information. It even says so right in the app
