Apple Maps bug on iPhone X

It appears that Apple is having some difficulty optimizing Maps for the iPhone X. The info icon is covered up and inaccessible.

How does the dev team miss this? Nobody fired up the app even once on the X?!

I’ve reported the issue via Maps feedback but I’m not sure if there is a better avenue for reporting this.

I’m not seeing that on my X, maybe try force closing it and opening it again.
Tried. Are you on iOS 11.2, running navigation in full screen? Could you post a screenshot of your maps? I find everything is fine when I’m not navigating. It’s once I am in navigation mode that this happens.

Just tested it driving and the screen looks the same while driving, the map and arrow indicating where I am on the road are the only thing that changed. The interface is the same.

You’re telling me that when you’re driving and your map is showing on the lock screen you have a permanent black bar at the top showing you the next step? That makes no sense. It never functioned like that. Turn announcement only happens when there is an actual turn to make or something needs to happen where you’re changing your driving pattern. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate you trying to test and reproduce this but I don’t think we’re comparing apples to apples.

Let me try to explain the conditions again where the bug shows for me and what exactly I’m looking for.

Plan out a route to somewhere. Make sure your route has a stretch that does not have any turn announcements. Sit in your car and start driving. If you’re navigating while driving, make sure your phone is “locked” by pressing the standby button on the side. Even on the lock screen the map should still be showing on the screen and if there is no upcoming turn or direction change you should see no black bar at the top. The map should fill the whole screen. You will however see a small location arrow icon in the top right corner. Above that icon there is supposed to be a letter “i” in a circle, however as shown in my screenshot it will be obscured by a blurred software bezel of some kind. Does this make sense and help you to reproduce it perhaps?

I will hard reset my phone and repeat the test again tomorrow on my end as well.

I can’t view your screenshot but I just had a 30 mile stretch and the black bar stayed at the top of the screen the whole time. What is this i button supposed to do?

I can’t reproduce the problem now either. I also can’t get the black bar to go away on long straight driving stretches. I don’t get it at all. For now it looks like it was a temporary glitch. Not sure if it will happen again and under what circumstances.

Thank you for your help though. I appreciate you trying to reproduce the issue.
