Hopefully by the time this is adopted in Europe the iPhone will allow three active e-sims.

Not sure the e-sim iphone is for all countries. Some might have the sim tray because not all countries have adopted e-sims

We humans, and the businesses we create, are creatures of habit. The physical SIM card is one example. There was a time (and reason) when they were needed. But their usage is now due to it just being the way it’s always been done. In 2022 it is now low hanging fruit, technically speaking. It’s just getting the carriers to adopt it (understandably this brings carriers an upfront adoption cost but long run it’s a money saver).

That’s the issue.

It’s more than likely by the time you gift it, it will be supported by all Carriers.

I doubt Carrier’s here in the Uk would elect to stop selling iPhones if they do indeed go esim only here next year.
