Apple backpacker ad

In the new Apple backpacker ad, around the 8 second mark, he swipes a few pictures in the camera roll and multiple items receive a check mark, am I missing something I can not figure out how to do this...

Open your photos app. Once you get to where you can browse your photos, at the bottom left hand corner there is an icon. Touch it and the title bar at the top changes to select photos. You can take it from there.

+1 for that tip. I had no idea that feature existed. I really needed that one. So tired of cut/pasting individual photos in email.
