app for group sms or email?

I don't own an iphone yet but wondered if you can send group email or sms from one group name in the contact list ? example : To : family group
cc:work group
subject: Hi
Whats going on?
send.

There is an app called ABContacts that will allow you to email to a "smart group" which you have created. I haven't been able to find anything on group sms.

igroupmail is a good app, but be aware that you can send any pics or attachments when using this app. It is for text only.
