Anyone ever used unlockit.co.nz?

This sites allows you to block the EDGE network so you can use a non-iphone sim in the iphone to make calls and sms messages but do not have to worry about a cellular data being charged your account. You can still use WIFI. This seems to accomplish what I what to do with my 2G after my 3Gs arrives today. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it work?
